Not a simple life, a wartime life

Not many paragraphs after my last post, John Piper warned against the simple life mentality, as it is an inward reflection of cutting-back on materialism. We should look at life more so as a wartime mentality, where costs need to be reallocated to the war effort. In WWII, metals were diverted to military production, rather than on consumer goods. We need to put our God-given talents and possessions in the same manner.

So, working towards the simple life is wise, but know that you should then be diverting those newly "recovered" assets for the furthering of the gospel.
