More thoughts on the death of reading...

John Piper's son (Abraham Piper) has a blog called "22 Words"

Today's guest contributor had this to say (link):

"Old Testament Jews would memorize the Torah by age 10. In contrast, only 59% of today’s U.S. Protestants read the Bible weekly."

It is a pity that I don't have more of the Word committed to memory. I recall hearing the testimony of a former P.O.W., who had to rely on the memorized Word while he was in captivity. This makes me wonder: "How much Scripture could I recite to myself if I lost access to my bible?"
