Needed: Domestic Missionaries
The following quotes are from articles written about the moral decline in Britain and Scotland, respectively. I was directed to them through Tim Challies' blog. (link)

I am not surprised by these editorials... I am almost certain that I could find plenty of the same articles in many other modern nations, especially here in the United States. As the belief in absolute truth (the Word of God) continues to decline, the moral abyss continues to produce spiritual apathy. This is Satan and the sinful hearts of the human race getting their way.
Romans 2:15 (ESV) speaks of the conscience of individuals: "the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them." Individuals, while responsible for their own personal sinful condition/responses, are certainly affected by the morality (or lack thereof) that surrounds/influences/infiltrates their circumstances. The reality is that, in our sinful condition, we most often choose to benefit self over community. An overdose of self-medication and self-service creates an apathy that grows into the cancerous conditions that cities and nations are facing today.
We as Christians need to step into the lives of the spiritually destitute and present the grace and hope of a Savior and His salvation. Our Savior Jesus Christ may not pull us from out of our circumstances, but he provides the joy and peace to endure the rough times - giving us hope for eternity with Him.
Why am I so timid as to be the domestic missionary in my community, my workplace, my country? Why do I not offer the hope I have more readily to others? Lord, help my timidity and weakness.
